it is in the best interest of Indian farmers to allow the GM mUstard technology to be introduced. Equally importantly GM Mustard has the potential to revitalise farm economies in states where it is likely to be introduced and might result in the same revolution that started with the introduction of Bt Cotton almost 20 years ago. India world’s 2nd largest exporter of cotton from 2nd largest importer at the time of technology introduction

  We strongly condemn and refute equivocally the false and malicious claims made by anti GM activists. Every story has two sides and it is important to hear both sides of the story to come to a final conclusion. We would request the GEAC and their members to hear both sides before coming to a final conclusion 

We are not expert in development economics but we understand that productivity can only curb inflation. There is huge pressure on import Bill of oilseed and you very well understand the importance of commercialisation of GM mustard. Delay in the decision is curbing farmers economy and further this is all the more important because this is Indian research and technology that has been promised to be given free to farmers by a great Indian Scientist and funded by our consolidated fund of India .Hope the honourable committee and the members of GEAC will look into our concerns and support farmers with new seed technologies like you did in the case of Bt Cotton which made India the world`s largest exporter of cotton from an importer with 90 percent of the cotton cultivation area being under Bt Cotton”.
